Thanks for visiting!

Chronic pain is more than a lingering discomfort; it is an unwavering, persistent sensation that may defy conventional medical intervention and therapy, often continuing for months or years beyond an initial injury, illness, or apparent cause. It is, in its essence, an unwelcome companion that can shape every aspect of a person's life, producing physical, emotional, and psychological consequences for both sufferers and those who care for them.

Welcome

Chronic pain, elusive and unrelenting, haunts millions across the globe, weaving itself into the fabric of daily life in ways that often escape the notice of others. Unlike the more visible forms of injury—where a cast signals a fracture or a bandage hints at a wound—chronic pain rarely presents itself with outward signs. There are no badges to declare the ache, no splints to invite sympathy, and no crutches to offer tangible evidence that something is wrong. Instead, chronic pain persists quietly, an invisible adversary that tests the boundaries of resilience and endurance.

Gosport Partners Through Pain was established in November 2011, stemming from a heartfelt conversation between Brenda Hadfield and her general practitioner. With a strong commitment to supporting in pain, Brenda had previously created a similar group in Fareham, highlighting the need for connection among individuals living with chronic pain. Encouraged by Dr. Zeb Mebranhtu, who recognised passion, Brenda envisioned a safe haven in Gosport where empathy and support would flourish. This initiative soon became vital for residents, offering understanding and companionship on their journey through pain.

OUR FOUNDATION AND HISTORY

PARTNERS THROUGH PAIN is a voluntary, non-profit group based in Gosport, founded with the express purpose of supporting chronic pain sufferers. Since its start, the group has steadily grown and currently boasts a membership of 30. To preserve the intimate, supportive atmosphere that is the hallmark of its success, the group has set an upper membership limit of 35. This ensures that each member receives meaningful attention and that quality activities are sustained.

The group’s ethos is simple but profound: those living with chronic pain are best placed to understand and support each other. The lived experience of pain offers a unique perspective, and PARTNERS THROUGH PAIN provides a space for these voices to be heard and valued.

OUR HUMMINGBIRD LOGO

The landscape of chronic pain—like the wild meadows frequented by hummingbirds—is forever changing. For those who dwell in its fields, every sunrise may unfurl new challenges, but also fresh hope. Treatments emerge with the promise of relief, paradigms shift with the winds of research, and the intimate realities of living with pain transform as life itself ebbs and flows.

At PARTNERS THROUGH PAIN, we embrace this ever-shifting horizon not as a source of uncertainty, but as a wellspring of possibility. Just as the meadows respond to every season, blooming anew despite hardship, we strive to remain flexible, responsive, and innovative. Our mission is rooted in the conviction that adaptation is not simply necessary—it is essential to sustaining meaningful support for those living with chronic pain.
